Centamin is an established gold producer, with premium listings on the London Stock Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange. The Company's flagship asset is the Sukari Gold Mine ("Sukari"), Egypt's largest and first modern gold mine, as well as one of the world's largest producing mines. Since production began in 2009 Sukari has produced over 5 million ounces of gold, and today has 6.0Moz in gold Mineral Reserves. Through its large portfolio of exploration assets in Egypt and Côte d'Ivoire, Centamin is advancing an active pipeline of future growth prospects, including the Doropo project in Côte d'Ivoire, and has over 3,000km2 of highly prospective exploration ground in Egypt's Nubian Shield.

Alongside its dedication to delivering an optimal operational and financial performance, the Company is committed to creating a lasting mutual benefit for all stakeholders through good corporate citizenship. In 2022, Centamin’s commitment to responsible mining was evidenced with the achievement of new safety records including eight million hours worked without a Lost Time Injury at Sukari. This has driven a 91% improvement in Lost-Time Frequency Rates and 51% improvement in Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate against target.

Centamin puts enormous emphasis on positioning sustainability at the heart of the business and has achieved key milestones in recent years with respect to decarbonisation. In 2022, the Company looked into various opportunities to reduce the operational emissions at Sukari over the life of mine, including sourcing clean and lower carbon power through connection to the national grid and further expansion of its onsite solar plant – the largest hybrid solar power plant in a gold mining operation globally.

Centamin ensures that host communities are offered meaningful opportunities to benefit from its presence through employment, training, procurement, and investment. Over 65% of its total procurement spend is within Egypt and it doubled the proportion of earnings invested in community investment in 2022. Centamin’s global workforce is currently 96% Egyptian nationals reflecting the strong transfer of skills as the first commercial gold miner in Egypt.

In 2022, Centamin achieved its interim target at Sukari for gender diversity and inclusion. The recruitment of women to critical roles is important to strengthen diversity in all aspects of the workplace culture, supported by policies, procedures and practices. Centamin is proud to have increased its Egyptian female representation to greater than 35 employees at Sukari and on its Egyptian Eastern Desert Exploration blocks as it seeks to continue to improve its gender balance in Egypt and across the Group.
