Giorgia Carano

Giorgia Carano

PhD Student
Westech

Giorgia Carano has a background in the field of continental tectonics, collisional orogens, process of ductile deformation, geological mapping and relations between ductile and brittle deformation within the crust, combining geological mapping, petrographic, structural and microstructural analysis of deformed rocks with detailed study of the kinematic of the flow, finite strain, quartz micostructures and fabrics in order to identify and constrain the temporal and spatial scale of processes that affects polydeformed rocks. She graduated in Applied Geology at the University of Turin in 2021. At the moment her activity lies in the Ore Geology. She is an exploration geologist and works as a consultant for the Westech company since May 2021 and has lent her expertise on several projects in different countries and commodities. Since February 2023 she is a PhD student at Politecnico di Torino on the Critical Raw Materials topic in the context of the project GeoSciencesIR (PNRR Infrastrutture di ricerca) and since May 2024 She has been carrying out his research project in the field of exploration and remote sensing techniques at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), University of Twente.
